Colmar by bike: discover the wine route!

Located on the famous Alsace wine route, Colmar is the ideal starting point for your cycling trips.

Take the opportunity to discover the city and its region. Take a break in the most beautiful Alsatian villages while enjoying the beauty of the surrounding countryside. We propose you two cycling itineraries which will allow you to discover the charming villages of Eguisheim and Kaysersberg.

Route 1 : to discover Eguisheim from Colmar.

Enjoy a day dedicated to the discovery of the village, the vineyards of Eguisheim and for the most sportive ones to the visit of the castle of Hohlandsbourg. This itinerary is between 12 and 21 km depending on the option you choose.

Start your day at Paul and Pia’s with a full breakfast to get your strength for the journey ahead.

Head to the wine village of Eguisheim, known for its half-timbered houses and winding streets. The route follows mostly separate bike paths from the road, allowing for safe pedaling through vineyards and picturesque villages.

Take the opportunity to go for a wine tasting in one of the village cellars where you can taste the local wines, like Riesling or Gewurztraminer. We recommend you two houses, the domain Emile Beyer which proposes organic wines and the domain MANN des 3 terres which works in biodynamy.

Take the time to stop in one of the many restaurants of the city for a gourmet break or enjoy a picnic. In the afternoon, two solutions are offered to you, the more athletic can take the road to the castle of Hohlandsbourg.

For the others, a long walk in the sunny vineyards of Eguisheim before returning to Colmar in the late afternoon to enjoy a nice evening at Paul and Pia’s.

Route 2 : discovering Kaysersberg from Colmar.

We propose a second itinerary on the wine road to visit the charming village of Kaysersberg.

This itinerary is a little longer than the first one, about 25 km. On the way to Kaysersberg you will pass through the beautiful villages of Sigolsheim and Kientzheim.

When you arrive in Kaysersberg, take the time to stroll through the village and take the 122 steps staircase that will lead you to the top of the dungeon to enjoy a splendid panorama on Kaysersberg and the vineyard.

Take the time to stop in one of the many restaurants and cafés of the city for a gourmet break. We recommend two nice addresses: the Moreote, a delicious Alsatian restaurant or the enfariné for a coffee break.

On the way back, take the wine road to the village of Ammerschwihr. Cross the many vineyards that border the village to Colmar for a nice night at Paul and Pia’s.

Whether you are a casual cyclist or a cycling enthusiast, Alsace has something to offer everyone. So get on your bike and discover this beautiful French region!

! Vale, Vale, all that’s left to do is get in the saddle!
