Heritage Days 2024 in Colmar: A Journey through Time and Culture

On the weekend of September 21 and 22, 2024, the city of Colmar opens its doors wide for the 41st edition of the European Heritage Days. This emblematic event promises to thrill the hearts of those passionate about history, culture and discovery. On the program: a multitude of captivating activities for the whole family, with enriching tours, unique exhibitions and fun activities in the city’s most prestigious cultural venues

 

Must-See: Museums and Monuments

During these two days, visitors will have the opportunity to delve into Colmar’s history by exploring some of the city’s most emblematic museums.

  1. Musée Unterlinden, famous for its collection of medieval and Renaissance art, will be opening its doors to curious visitors eager to discover works of great historical value.
  2. Musée du Jouet, meanwhile, offers a nostalgic journey through the ages, revisiting the history of toys in a playful, interactive way.
  3. Musée Bartholdi, housed in the birthplace of Auguste Bartholdi, sculptor of the world-famous Statue of Liberty, offers an insight into the life and work of this world-renowned artist.

 

Exhibitions and Special Events

 

The Journées du Patrimoine 2024 will also be an opportunity to discover exceptional exhibitions in places usually closed to the public.

  1. Bibliothèque des Dominicains will host two fascinating exhibitions: one on the first railway line in Alsace, and the other on the history of printing, from medieval times to the French Revolution. These exhibitions will shed unique light on little-known aspects of Alsatian history.
  2. Ferme Florale Bluema will be offering a unique tour of its facilities, allowing visitors to discover the secrets of local floriculture in a bucolic setting.
  3. The Colmar police station will be the setting for an original exhibition featuring frescoes by a street artist, celebrating the great figures of the police force.
